Our Principal's alma mater!
CAAM is the acronym of the abbreviated Spanish
(former) name: "Colegio de Agricultura y Artes Mecanicas" (in English this is:
College of Agriculture and Mechanical Arts). In 1966 the abbreviation and the
full name changed. The new acronym is UPR-RUM (Spanish for: Universidad de Puerto Rico,
Recinto Universitario de Mayaguez; or in English: University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez
Campus). Those of us who studied there normally refer to it as: Colegio! The reference
originated from its former name, CAAM.
